This recognition adds to the other major crop of the farm, the Olive, also Organic certified.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.caae.es\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8247\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cortijoelpuerto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/caae.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"195\" height=\"259\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">The innovative hedgerow system has multiple advantages:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">&#8211; Reduction of harvesting costs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">-Fully mechanized harvest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">&#8211; Reduces pruning work, and enables automated harvesting with the same harvester as the olive tree.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">-Quality improvement: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 varieties of late flowering <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 high productivity, highlighting the quality of the fruit and a high ease of training and pruning<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">-Bio: Creating hedgerows it is great way to have harmony in the Orchard\u00a0because of the diversity of wildlife they attract. <\/span><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Hedgerows are mixed plantings of trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials and ground covers that\u00a0provide nectar, food or fruit to bring\u00a0diversity to our Ecosystem at Cortijo el Puerto.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808080;\">\u00a0Provides covers for fauna (also one plus for us). \u00a0There are many native species of wildlife that\u00a0rely on these\u00a0areas as a\u00a0way of travelling.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Increases the habitat resource availability for essential wildlife, including species that undertake pollination or act as natural controllers of other pest species, contributing to biological control \u00a0and thus, reducing the need of pesticide usage.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">-In summary, The provision of trees and hedgerows can deliver numerous benefits economically, ecologically and environmentally.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Quality, Ecology and Innovation are core features of Cortijo el Puerto.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8592\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cortijoelpuerto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Cosecha-almendro-eco-2018_cosecha.jpeg\" alt=\"Bio Almonds_ Cosecha almendro eco 2018_cosecha\" width=\"1280\" height=\"851\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">We are already known and awarded for \u00a0the excellent olives harvested \u00a0using \u00a0<em>New Holland the Braud 9090X Dual<\/em>, harvester that with small adjustments have been adapted to the characteristics of the almond tree in hedgerow system. For those interested in machinery, we tell you that these harvesters are distinguished by having two areas of vibration, one superior with a more intense agitation and the other less intense. They combine both curved rods and straight rods.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8593\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cortijoelpuerto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Cosecha-almendro-eco-2018_cosechadora.jpeg\" alt=\"Cosecha almendro eco 2018_cosechadora\" width=\"1280\" height=\"851\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">But let&#8217;s go back to our story&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">In 2013 we became the first farm in Andalusia to introduce this new system based on two innovations: the first, <a style=\"color: #808080;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rootpac.com\/sites\/default\/files\/rootpac-pdf\/rootpac20_eng.pdf\">rootpac 20<\/a>, result of the research of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.agromillora.com\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> Agromillora,<\/span><\/a> world leader in the nursery sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">The plum hybrid (<em>Prunusbesseyi x Prunuscerasifera<\/em>) is endowed with a dwarfing pattern that converts any variety of almond tree that is grafted, into almond trees of low vigor, with the consequent adaptation to hedgerow formation. This allows early maturity and production, reduces pruning work, and enables automated harvesting with the same harvester as the olive tree.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8594\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cortijoelpuerto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Cosecha-almendro-eco-2018_hilera-seto.jpeg\" alt=\"Cosecha almendro eco 2018_hilera seto\" width=\"1280\" height=\"851\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">The harvested varieties are results from the research of the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cita-aragon.es\/en\">CITA<\/a><\/span> of Aragon: Isabelona and Soleta whose objective was to obtain a similar fruit to the varieties most valued by consumers, Marcona and Desmayo largueta, but including multiple improvements in the field in terms of agronomic management: like late flowering avoiding the early and self-fertile frosts, thus allowing pollination without the need to cross pollen of different varieties. At the same time, traditional varieties such as Lauranne, Ferraduel and Guara have also been worked on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8523\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cortijoelpuerto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Cortijo-el-Puerto-Almendro-Ecologico-3.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">In Cortijo el Puerto we rely on organic farming. Aerial images with diverse information about the plantation are obtained, the crops are managed remotely and in real time, and the intervention is carried out with the accuracy of a surgeon.
