Pursuing our dream at Cortijo el Puerto

 

Located in Lora del Río (Seville) on the right bank of the Guadalquivir River, Cortijo el Puerto is a family owned company. The Family De la Torre Liébana acquired Ingeoliva SL in July 2012, and it was expanded in 2016 by Ingealmendro SL pursuing our dream: to create a sustainable agricultural ecosystem. We aspired to recover the traditional values of rural life, to build a community where flora and fauna live in perfect harmony to produce organic food of high nutritional value. We do take advantage of both experience and innovation in tilling the land, while still being respectful to the environment. For us, the challenge was restoring what had been destroyed over time and regaining a natural equilibrium that had been lost in these surroundings.

 

Situated in the heart of the Guadalquivir River valley and with a current area of two hundred and twelve hectares, Cortijo El Puerto contains a hundred thousand shrubs within its boundaries and more than two hundred and eighty thousand ecological trees in hedgerow system ( named so because of their characteristic linear distribution), mainly olive and almond trees, different varieties of super intensive olive grove plantation and the first super intensive almond trees cultivation system in Andalusia. The new R & D (Research and Development) plantations are based on ecological techniques and precision agriculture. What’s more, the entire land is covered with vegetation grown from selected native seeds. This richness of flora attracts other animal species, generating biodiversity. Life has returned to el Cortijo! Now, lacewings, bees, and dragonflies flutter next to the olive groves and almond trees; birds, mammals, reptiles, insects, fish and amphibians all live together in the fields … In short, we are heading in the right direction, although we still have a long way to go…

Our project requires a human team committed to a green philosophy that will add value to traditional agriculture. Our group of workers, comprised of a foreman and a team of laborers help to nourish the land and produce flavoursome organically grown food, in healthy environment. On the other hand, our passion and desire to “empathize” with nature, as well as our commitment to the excellence quality of our olive oil and almonds, leads us to select the best advisers, technicians, researchers and nursery companies in the sector.
